Elena Mallia has completed her Masters in Pharmacy at the age of 23 years from University of Malta.

Staurosporine (Figure 1) is an alkaloid isolated from Streptomyces staurosporesa. It inhibits protein kinases (including protein kinase C), which induces apoptosis resulting in it having potential anti-tumour activity. This study targets the protein kinase C receptor for the development of a novel structure capable of its inhibition using staurosporine as template molecule.
